'Woman with Necklace' by Louis Latapie (circa 1930s)
'Woman with Necklace', oil on paper mounted on canvas, by Louis Latapie (circa 1930s). Filled with colour, this extraordinarily desirable work by French artist Latapie is seductive and alluring. Latapie is well known for his many portraits of women and this subject seems completely at ease posing for the artist suggesting a warm relationship between them. Although later in Latapie's career he embraced cubism and abstraction, this is a rare artwork from his earlier expressionist and more figurative period. The piece is in good overall condition. The original frame is in fair condition with many characterful blemishes, nicks and minor scrapes commensurate with age, however it has been newly reglazed with anti-reflective glass. Upon request a video of the artwork may be provided. Signed 'Latapie' in the lower right hand corner.
