'Woman in Abstract' by F. Larinor (circa 1940s - 1960s)
SKU 0476
'Woman in Abstract', oil on board, by F. Larinor (circa 1940s - 1960s). There is an evident strength to the figure in this work. That strength is represented by the vibrant colours, spirited brushstrokes, bold lines and geometric shapes in this abstract portrait of a seated woman. It is a stunning work of art and sure to be a conversation piece wherever it is hung. In good vintage condition with minor fading and blemishes commensurate with age. Signed in the lower lefthand corner: 'F. Larinor'. Newly framed with elegant linen slip.
Regrettably nothing is known of this artist other than they lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. No doubt the artist has drawn their inspiration from the abstract movement inspired by Picasso, Braque and others of the era. Like Picasso's work, there was always some connection to real objects or figures and therefore shies away from geometric abstraction. What is clear is the quality and interest of the art.
