Vintage French Ceramic Zoomorphic Pitcher (circa 1960s)
SKU 2280
Vintage ceramic decorative pitcher (circa 1960s), French School. A stylised creative take on the traditional pitcher with extended handle, the zoomorphic shape suggests the very bird whose feathers and eyes are etched on the sides of its delightfully blue form. The lip has a spout shaped into its neck which gives the impression of a beak. The glaze is smooth to the touch and lustrous to the eye. In very good overall condition. Maker's mark visible near the raw clay underside. After much research however, the piece cannot be definitively attributed to a specific ceramicist. There is some faded text on the clay underside as well, however it is illegible. Upon request, a video of this piece will be provided.
