Mid-Century French ceramic vase by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). This simply elegant small vase is burnt orange in colour with a sumptuous glaze. Its strength is in its shape which is luxuriously rounded at the middle with a narrowing neck leading to the wide-lipped mouth. There is a repeating leaf and branch motif etched into the base of the vase. It is sensuous to the touch and mesmerisingly visual. It is its beautiful simplicity which makes it such a beautiful piece. In good overall condition. Signed on the underside: 'J Blin'. Ideal for Jacques Blin collectors and for those who love mid-century French artisans from Vallauris and beyond. Upon request a video of the work may be provided.

About the ArtistJacques Blin (1920-1995) who was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". A comprehensive book of the works of Jacques Blin has recently been released in both French and English: 'Jacques Blin, Ceramiste & Porteur d'Histoires' by Christine Lavenu.
