Ask a Question

Vintage French ceramic flower vase by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). This diminutive vase reveals a frieze of stylised animals like those found on ancient cave walls - all this against a backdrop of dreamy, lapis lazuli blue - unpretentious yet elegant at the same time. Always a wonderful addition to your collection of mid-century French ceramicists (or just a beautiful object for your home). Signed on the underside: "J Blin". Very good overall condition. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920-1995) gave up a career in engineering for his love of the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin".
