View of Paris' Place du Tertre in Montmartre showing Sacré-Cœur, oil on board, (early 20th C) by artist, L. Chantpelle. With its many artists setting up their easels each day for visitors, the Place du Tertre reminds us when Montmartre was a hub of modern art. At the beginning of the 20th century, many painters including Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani and Maurice Ultrillo were living there, some at the nearby Bateau-Lavoir. Today it retains its Parisian charm and still attracts tourists, artsy types and those who simply love people-watching in outdoor cafés. This is an endearing depiction of a simpler time in early 20th century Paris. In fair vintage condition commensurate with age. Newly framed. There are some marks from the original frame at the very edges of this piece. Signed in left hand corner: 'L. Chantpelle'. Upon request, a video clip of this piece may be provided.
