'Still Life Bouquet of Flowers', oil on board, by artist, Vernìere (c. 1930s - 40s). An explosion of impressionist colour comes forth from bold strokes with thick, impasto layers. The lightly pink table cloth colour is repeated in the bouquet along with white, yellow and reddish-orange flowers. The background of the work consists of, on the other hand, very thin layered paint most likely applied with a painting knife to form wave-like strokes virtually scratched into the wood surface. Very original style. This work is in fair vintage condition commensurate with age. Some markings and blemishes are visible in the wood and a single chip evident in the edge of lower left hand quadrant. Upon request, a video clip of the work may be provided. Signed / Etched: 'Vermìere' in lower left hand corner. Regrettably, additional information regarding the artist is unavailable. The artwork was discovered in the South of France.
