'Prisms of Identity: A Portrait Series IX', Florentine School (circa 1980s-90s). This new collection represents some of the most appealing works we have acquired to date from our Florentine source. Painted in acrylic on canvas (with some penciled detail) and mounted on board, this portrait captures the timeless elegance of the human face while embracing a distinctly modernist vocabulary of colour, line, and abstraction.
The artist employs a bold, chromatic palette—fragmenting and reassembling features into luminous planes of colour. Each work is both intimate and universal, recalling the legacy of European postwar modernism while retaining a deeply Florentine sensitivity to light and form. They are vibrant, contemplative, and highly collectible—an exceptional opportunity for collectors seeking distinctive works from the late 20th-century Florentine school. This painting is in overall good condition with some unevenness of the canvas due to the way it must be stretched for mounting on board, yet it provides, at the same time, some texture and depth. There is some minor paint loss consistent with age. This artwork is unsigned. It is newly framed with a linen slip. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
About the Art: This gallery has acquired a number of paintings through an intermediary of an ageing art professor from the Istituto di Arte di Porta Romana, Florence, Italy. The professor released works of artists whom he mentored over the years. We are unsure who painted the series we acquired as several are just signed, 'Giacomo', initialed 'G', or, left completely unsigned, yet many are clearly by the same artist. Generally, they are in good overall condition.
