'Portrait of Natural Man', oil on board (circa 1940s - 1950s). Inspired by the works of Picasso and Braque, this is a colourful cubist portrait of a broad-shouldered, pre-industrial man. A solid person of structured squares, rectangles and a few curves whose character is enhanced by the artist's use of bold, yet warm colours. Unfortunately nothing is known of this artist, VR, other than he/she lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. Several galleries have acquired and are now selling these works which speaks to the widespread assessment of the quality and interest of the art. In excellent vintage condition in new frame with linen slip insert. Initialed by the artist, 'V.R.' in lower left hand corner. A short video clip of this work can be provided upon request.
