'Portrait of a Woman and Her Horse', French School (1988)
SKU 1873
'Portrait of a Woman and Her Horse', oil on board, French School (1988). Horses are majestic, strong and can display a broad range of emotions. Whether they're around humans or other horses, they are amazingly communicative and thrive in social settings. These qualities are part of the reason why horses can develop such a strong bond with humans. In this portrait, one can perceive this strong bond by the comfortable ease with which the horse stands next to the elegantly dressed woman. For the portrait sitting, the woman seems to have dressed to complement her stately horse. The horse's expression exudes love and familiarity. One wonders what has become of these two 35 years later. The artwork is in good overall condition and is newly framed with a French-style linen slip. It is signed by the artist in the lower right hand, however, the name is illegible. The year of creation is clear (1988). The artwork was in discovered in Paris, France. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
