'Parc à Paris' by Raoul Berjonneau (circa 1960s)
'Parc à Paris', oil on board (circa 1960s) by Raoul Berjonneau (1911 - 1988). An impressionist's view of a charming Parisian park where visitors meander along a shady green lane. Berjonneau's use of vivid colours and short but confident brush strokes undoubtedly make this his finest work. Beautifully framed. Signed: 'R. Berjonneau' in lower left hand corner. In excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age.
About the Artist: Raoul Berjonneau (1911 - 1988) was the son of well known painter, Jehan Berjonneau (1890 - 1966). Although as an artist he lived somewhat in his father's shadow, his work came into its own as he developed his own distinctive style which evolved over the decades. In addition to his oil paintings he was commissioned to create art for travel posters for cruise ships plying the Mediterranean.
