Pair of 'Piramide' Table Lamps by Tonello and Montagna Grillo for High Society (circa 1970s)
SKU 2702, 2703
Pair of vintage Italian table lamps from the “Piramide” series, designed by A. Tonello and A. Montagna Grillo for High Society. The three-sided brass body rises from a triangular base with faceted sides tapering to a slender, flared neck. As the light moves across it, each facet catches a different tone of warm, brushed gold, giving the piece a lovely presence. High Society’s lamps combined architectural shapes with fine Italian metalwork, and the Piramide became one of the defining designs of 1970s Italian lighting. This version is ideal for a pair of bedside tables, a desk or a console. The lamps are in good operating condition. The exteriors are in fair overall condition, with characterful marks, light scratches and a patina consistent with their age. Seen from just a short distance, these signs of use soften into the background, and the pieces show off their full character. They are currently wired for European use but can be easily adapted to your location either by changing the plug or simply using an adapter. The lamp shades are not included. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Producer: High Society was an Italian lighting company active in the 1970s, producing sculptural lamps in brass and chrome to designs by A. Tonello and A. Montagna Grillo. Their ‘Piramide’ series, with its faceted, geometric forms, became the company’s signature design. It was made in a range of sizes and finishes, and it remains one of the most recognisable pieces of 1970s Italian lighting.
