Original vintage Burgundy wine and agricultural area map poster (not a reprint) illustrated by Jacques Liozu (1951). A charmingly illustrated map from Lyon to Dijon and beyond acquired in Beaune, France. In very good vintage condition showing some slight fading in colour and minor blemishing on the paper. Re-framed and re-glazed. This is not a reprint. A short video clip of this piece can be provided upon request.
About the Artist: Not much is known about illustrator, Jacques Liozu. He was born in Albi in 1910, the same French hometown of artist, Toulouse Lautrec. Principally Liozu was employed by publishers, Odé, Chantal de Toulouse and Gründ. He was most well known for his geographical maps spanning the globe's regions including most states of the United States. He is also known for his whimsical postcards and his beloved instructional posters used by French school teachers in the 1950s and 60s. Liozu died in Bourg-Madame in 1974.
