Mid-Century Modern Italian Side Table by Ico Parisi (circa 1950s)
SKU 0736
Mid-Century Modern Italian side table with glass top by Ico Parisi (circa 1950s). In Parisi's iconic style with boomerang-shaped legs supporting a wooden frame and glass top (the original glass has been replaced with new glass). The wood has characterful nicks, scratches, cuts and blemishes and could do with some TLC (Tender Loving Care). The overall stability of the piece is less than it was in its original production. Overall, it is in fair vintage condition with imperfections as noted. It has been priced accordingly. The table retains its vintage charm and iconic status. Please view the accompanying photos to this listing to appreciate the piece's look and condition. Upon request a video may be provided.
About the Artist: Ico Parisi (1916 - 1996) was an Italian architect and designer. Born Domenico Parisi in Palermo, Sicily, he was involved in building construction and architecture in Como during his early adulthood. By the 1940s, Parisi took up filmmaking and began designing furniture in 1945, for which he would become most renowned. His designs are characterised by their Italian mid-century Modern aesthetic, constructed using softwoods often cut into boomerang-like shapes, augmented by metal slats and boldly coloured upholstery. His most prolific period was the two decades that preceded 1965, when he married and formed a design team with his wife, Luisa Aiani, in 1948. He studied architecture between 1949–1952 and became a member of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in 1956.
