Mid-Century Italian brass and metal umbrella stand by Cesare Lacca (circa 1950s). An absolutely stunning creation in the designer's inimitable style; imagine this piece in your foyer at home or in the entryway of a stylish office suite. The brass is weighty and solid while the arresting salmon-coloured mesh 'baskets' on either side retain the umbrellas functionally imparting style and elegance to the piece. Umbrella tips will rest in the charming and diminutive bucket-shaped copper holder at the bottom whose interior has an aged, crackly patina of verdigris supported by an elegantly-shaped tripod of brass. There are faults and blemishes of course, mostly on the mesh metal. Truly, they only impart more character and charm to the piece and bear witness to its vintage origins. In overall fair condition. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Designer: Born in Naples in 1929, Italian architect-designer Cesare Lacca, created modernist furniture and metalwork throughout the 1950s. Lacca designed a great many tea carts and serving trolleys in his career as well as magazine racks and coffee tables, among other things. Almost all of Lacca’s known designs were created in the 1950s. Today, Cesare Lacca is appreciated for his contribution to the Italian design identity; his ability to fashion brass into the Italian postwar design conversation; and his timeless, highly sought-after creations.
