Mid-Century Italian Console Table by the Consorzio La Permanente Mobili (circa 1960s)
SKU 2282
Vintage Italian console table by the Consorzio La Permanente Mobili (circa 1960s). Impeccably restored, this console table will delight just about everyone. Quintessentially Mid-Century Modern in style, it blends natural wood tones in contrast with those of its five drawers painted in satiny black alongside the brass moustache-shaped handles. The centre surface is lower than the left and right ends creating visual interest with different levels for display. The legs are posed at elegant angles which are so stylish and, at the same time, structurally sound. They sport lovely brass 'shoes' where the legs meet the floor's surface and complement the drawer handles. In very good overall condition. Upon request a video will be provided.
About the Consorzio La Permanente Mobili - In 1893, La Permanente Mobili Canturini Furniture was born near Cantù, in Lombardy (not far from the southern tip of Lake Como), at the initiative of several furniture makers eager to escape the harsh conditions imposed by the larger manufacturers. This initiative put the power back in the hands of artisans which, over the course of a few years, enabled the furniture manufacturing industry to make a decisive entrepreneurial leap, thus overcoming the challenge faced by artisans whose next generation required the support of the cooperative. Its establishment brought not only economic benefits to its members, but also an upper hand in the sector. At the beginning of the 20th century, Cantù manufacturing was considered at the pinnacle of national production as well as the reference point and model for all cooperative small furniture producers.
