Ask a Question

Mid-Century French ceramic vase by Jacques Blin with elephant motif (circa 1950s). Blin has a way of working characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently used fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". This vase is gracefully large with a cloudy glaze covering the incised pachyderms that encircle the piece. The vase is in good vintage condition. This is an exquisite example of Blin's artistry and technique on a ceramic piece rendering it eminently collectible. Signed: 'J. Blin'. Please carefully view the listing's accompanying photos to best assess the piece's condition and style. Upon request we will provide a short video.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995) gave up a career in engineering for his love of the visual arts.  His works are always signed "J. Blin" on the underside.
