Mid-century ceramic glazed table lamp (circa 1960s) by Marcel Giraud, Vallauris, France. A piece with a graceful, rounded shape with wide centre in a muted chalk-coloured base. This stunning lamp has a palm tree and leaf motif just above the centre line. Sure to be a conversation piece in your home or work place. In good vintage condition with some characterful blemishes commensurate with age. Upon request, a short video clip of this piece may be provided. Maker's Mark on underside: 'Giraud'. Lamp shade not included. Re-wired for UK use.
About the Artist: Marcel Giraud (born 1937), from Vallauris, France left school at the age of 13 to become an apprentice potter at the workshop of Blaise Rubino. He later worked at several other workshops in the area until he opened his own studio in 1960 creating mostly utilitarian ware. Since 1975 Giraud has taken up painting, sculpture and continues to create sculptural figures, animals and other decorative objects in his retirement.
