Mid-century French ceramic lamp by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). This large, stunning lamp has Blin's signature cloudy glaze in a rare hue featuring primitive, cave-like etchings of animals, stylised images of humans and plant life. It features an elegant shape with small finger handle on one side. The lamp is in fair-to-good vintage condition with minor blemishing as highlighted on the accompanying photos. It is a rare shape and colour and therefore, highly collectible. The lamp is currently wired for UK usage but can be best modified locally in the country of the buyer. Signed on the base: 'J Blin'. Please note the lamp shade is not included.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. His style is immediately recognisable. His signature glaze is characterised by a more or less misty appearance and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently used fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin".
