Mid-Century Decorative Jar by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit (Circa 1960s)
Mid-century decorative jar (circa 1960s) by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit. This decorative jar with lid was created in Pouchain's trademark tones of brown with white and beige glaze. The two handles are brushed in brown and below, encircling the jar, is a tribal eye-like pattern anchoring the piece. The inner jar is white and beige showing circular patterns and markings. In very good vintage condition commensurate with its age and use. There is a chip in the underside of the lid which has not been repaired. Signed: 'l'Atelier Dieulefit'.
About the Artist: Jacques Pouchain (1925 - 2005) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit.
