Mid-Century French ceramic pitcher set with four cylindrical drinking cups by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). To find an intact set such as this is rare and certainly fortuitous. An elegant pitcher in Blin's trademark misty glaze with stylised sun motif incised in the piece is complemented by a set of four similarly decorated cups. The decor is attributed to French artist, Jean Rustin (1928-2013), who collaborated with Blin. The set is beautifully simple and elegant, visually inviting and tactile at the same time. In good overall condition. Pitcher signed on the underside: 'J Blin'. This is ideal for those collectors of Jacques Blin and for those who love mid-century French ceramics. Upon request a video of the work will be provided.

About the ArtistJacques Blin (1920-1995) who was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". A comprehensive book of the works of Jacques Blin has recently been released in both French and English: 'Jacques Blin, Ceramiste & Porteur d'Histoires' by Christine Lavenu.
