Mediterranean Landscape II', ink on art paper, by Pierre Dionisi (circa 1930s). Sepia-toned, original drawing in a compelling style depicts a view of a Provençal roofs through a forest of trees. Provence, France is famous for its beloved light and list of world famous artists. It is a mass of lavender fields and hilltop villages, paths vanishing into nowhere, outcrops of sandy rock, ochre facades, distant olive groves and endless vineyards. Somehow, the viewer is transported to the scene and can almost feel the heat of the dry Provençal sun blazing through the trees. The drawing is in good vintage condition and has been newly framed and glazed. A single drawing may be purchased or a series of these is available through our gallery on this platform. Initialed by the artist in the lower right hand corner. Upon request a video of the piece may be provided.

About the Artist: Pierre Georges Vielledent, known as Pierre Dionisi (1904-1976), was born in Paris of Corsican origins. A pupil of Fernand Cormon and Raoul Arus, he exhibited at the Salon of French artists from 1921 to 1923 and received the Prix de Rome for painting in 1923, at the age of 19, for his 'Christ on the Cross'. Inspiration for his paintings was provided by his native land, Corsica and sun-drenched Provence. He was also a sculptor of some renown.
