'Marselis' porcelain bowl by Nils Thorsson for Aluminia - Royal Copenhagen (circa 1960s). The bowl has a flower motif in a luscious mahogany brown colour - a quintessential example mid-century modernism. In very good vintage condition. Marked: 'Marselis Denmark', production model 2643. Short video of the item is available upon request. 

About the DesignerNils Johan Thorvald Thorsson (1898 -1975) was a Swedish-Danish ceramist, silversmith, painter and cartoonistIn 1917 Thorsson graduated from the Royal Danish Academy. He excelled as a designer and went onto become Aluminia Factory's Artistic Director in 1928, a post which he held for forty one years! Thorsson was the factory's most prolific designer with a keen eye for talent. When Aluminia purchased Royal Copenhagen in 1949, Thorsson took over there as well as Artistic Director, leading a team of ultra-talented designers.
