Patinated verdigris bronze legs emerging from water by award winning artist Pietrina Checcacci (1941 -    ).  Checcacci was born in Taranto, Italy but moved to Rio de Janeiro when she was 13 years old.  Although her art comes in many forms, these distinctive pieces come from a period in the 1970's and 80's in which body parts in close-up: hands, fingers, legs, feet and noses were central to her art.  They were often created in numbered, limited editions such as these playful sculpted legs emerging from water.  Excellent condition - (Edition ii/xx).
