'Joyful Reunion', oil on board, by R.F. (circa 1940s -1950s). A blissful young couple are reunited in this cubist piece. It is an expressive work with distinctive character. The subdued earth tones are beautifully harmonious and the image balanced and inviting. The artist was no doubt influenced by cubists such as Picasso and Braque as interpreted in the period after WWII. Regrettably not much is known about the artist other than they were from the 'School of Berlin'. The work was acquired in Northern Italy. In excellent vintage condition and reframed with linen slip insert. Initialed by the artist, 'R.F.' in lower left hand corner.
