'Interieur' by Lili Pieter Van Leer (1950)

Sold Out

'Interieur', oil on canvas (1950), by Lili Pieter Van Leer (1905 - 1966). The sensuous mood captured by the artist in this work is extraordinary. The subdued colours of the evening light seep through the delicate conservatory-style windows. The unpretentious brush strokes contrast with the room's elegant ambience and the inviting colours of the floral bouquet and fruit on the table. The setting is beguiling. The original frame, characterful as it is, perfectly complements and expresses the essential mood of the artwork. It is an 'Interieur'...and so much more. Signed by the artist: 'Pieter 50'. In excellent vintage condition. A short video clip of this work may be provided upon request.

About the Artist: Lili Pieter Van Leer Bosman (1905 - 1966) was born in Middelbourg in the Netherlands and died near Paris. Although there are many gaps in the story of her lifetime, it is known that she once worked for the Dutch East India company in Indonesia and also spent four years in the United States during the period covering WWII. Van Leer (né Bosman) settled in the south of France and Paris until 1966. Her artworks have been for sale at the major auction houses - this may be her finest.
