'Grand Prix Racer II', French School (circa 1960s)

SKU 0805

'Grand Prix Racer II', French School, oil on board (circa 1960s). The 'good ole' days' of Formula One (or Grand Prix) racing depicted in this thrilling mid-century oil painting (second in the series). This racing car is most likely a Bugatti, T51, which emerged in 1931. A victory in the 1931 French Grand Prix was a rare case of success for this line of cars. Later in motorsports, the Formula 1 was the premier single seater racing category in worldwide racing having started in 1947. This new 'International Formula' was initially known variously as Formula A or Formula 1. You can have this original piece of motorsport history in your home or office. Acquired in the South of France. In fair vintage condition commensurate with age. Newly framed with linen slip. Initialed but illegible (may be 'LP' for Louis Petit). Upon request a video of the artwork will be provided.
