Vintage French ceramic vase by Paul Quéré (circa 1970s). A chalky-white base is accentuated with a stunning leaf motif, mosaic-like in its decoration. An elegant rounded body narrows to form a long, graceful neck. At the base is a smaller, round pedestal with coloured circle decoration outlined by bold brown glazed lines. The vase is in good overall condition. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video will be provided. It is signed on the underside: 'Paul Quéré Port Grimaud'.

About the Artist:  Paul Quéré, (1931-1993) was born in Reims, France and died in Pont-L'Abbé, in Brittany. He was a French painter, ceramist and poet, of Breton origins. He was a reviewer, poet, writer, potter, ceramist, painter, editor, jazz musician and radio host all at the same time. From 1953 to 1979, he lived in Port Grimaud, in Provence on the French Riviera practicing his craft which allowed him to meet his material needs and continue to support himself comfortably while writing and painting. In 1979 he moved to Brittany in far west France, still a potter in his “poetry”. While there he devoted more time to writing, publishing his works and, above all, to painting. He died in 1993.
