Decorative ceramic tray with still life motif by the Cloutier brothers (circa 1960s). This more serious piece was made using the Cloutier's trademark pinkish-purple colours with bowl of fruit design, much like a painting but on an earthenware canvas. A lovely, sizeable piece for your home or office and a real conversation starter. In very good vintage condition commensurate with age. Maker's mark on underside: 'Cloutier'. Please view the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request, a brief video may be provided.

About the Designers: Jean and Robert Cloutier are called the twin brothers of ceramics. After having apprenticed for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, the brothers created their own workshop located in Paris in 1955. They produced both functional and dreamlike decorative objects. After Paris and a brief interlude in the town of Yonne, France, the Cloutiers put down roots in the Languedoc region of southern France. Forever refining their ceramic processes, they are considered to have perfectly mastered their profession and are held in the highest esteem.
