'Fountain in a Park', oil on board, by Octave-Denis-Victor Guillonnet (circa 1930s). Light peeks through the opening in the park's foliage reflecting back in the small fountain pool. The artist's keen eye for colour and detail combined with his use of masterful brushstrokes created this atmospheric artwork that transports one to a better place. That is always a good thing. The viewer is invited to this lush scene to relax, breathe the fresh air, dream and love life. Newly framed with a French-style linen slip. Artwork is in fair-to-good overall condition commensurate with age. It is signed by the artist in the lower left hand. Upon request a video may be provided.

About the Artist: Octave-Denis-Victor Guillonnet, French artist (1872-1967). Although there is very little information about this artist's life, he has an extensive body of work which includes portraits, nudes, landscapes, seasides, paintings of travels in the South of France, Venice and Algeria. These are luxuriously painted in vivid hues perfectly capturing the mood of painters at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th, through their favourite motifs. To Guillonnet, who lived for nearly a century, we owe him thanks for his sumptuous works which reflect his varied career as a painter, decorator, illustrator and ethnographer. In 2017 an exhibition of 84 of his works was held in France. Many of his paintings have been auctioned at Christie's and consistently exceeded the house's bidding estimates. Not only are they beautiful works of art, but they are investments as well.
