Decorative Ceramic Pitcher by St. Aignan (circa 1970s)
SKU 2223
A decorative ceramic pitcher with stylised plant motif by St. Aignan Pottery (circa 1970s). The St. Aignan pottery is located in the Loire Valley of France. They produced utilitarian items such as this charming pitcher with a wide, slightly asymmetrical handle. The look is similar to those produced by the French Cloutiers Brothers with its delicate colouring on the main body and the painted swirl resulting from the throwing of the piece. The more delicate lower section is contrasted by the darker, more concentrated finish on the upper body. The lip refers to the more delicate style but its interior has a drip motif which adds visual interest. Very charming and rustic at the same time. A delightful piece for your home or office and a real conversation starter. In very good overall condition. Upon request, a video will be provided. Maker's mark and initials painted on the underside base.
