0371
Mid-century decorative bowl (circa 1960s) by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit. This decorative bowl was created in Pouchain's trademark tones of brown. The inner bowl may remind one of the rings of Saturn and the drip effects, shooting stars. The outer glaze is a symmetric repeating tulip motif with both lighter and darker bands on either side, top and bottom. In excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age and use. Signed: 'l'Atelier Dieulefit'.
About the Artist: Jacques Pouchain (1925 - 2005) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit. He produced highly personal work and more commercial pieces as well both revealing a modern approach to pottery.
