A cubist nude portrait of a seated woman, in gouache on fine art paper (1955), by artist Kosta Stojanovitch. This work is one in a series of four images. Here, an imposing woman lounges comfortably on a modern chair in a pose for the artist wearing only two yellow bracelets. As in other cubist works, the body's lines and contours are rendered in collage-style layers with angles defined by vibrant colours which add resonance to the work. Although the art is executed naïvely, it surely must have seemed very avant-garde in its day. This piece has been reframed and glazed and is in very good vintage condition commensurate with age. The work is signed: 'K Stoya 55'. Upon request, a brief video clip may be provided for context.
