'Candles in Pastel' (1970), pastel on paper, by M. Van Doren. With a very sensuous green backdrop, the artist depicts a close-up view of two candlesticks, one being the opposed colour pair of the other. The thick pastel is layered and textural, the execution of the painting, naïve. The work is signed: 'M. Van Doren 70', of whom nothing is known. In excellent vintage condition, newly framed and glazed.
