'Banks of Solitude' French School (1926)
SKU 2207
Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of "Banks of Solitude," a charming oil painting on board from 1926. Though the artist is unknown, this exquisite piece captures the essence of nature's serenity and the quiet peace of a meandering river landscape. The painting depicts a scenic view of both banks of a small, winding river. One side is adorned with trees showcasing colourful leaves, lush greenery, and vibrant vegetation at their feet. The opposite bank features a gentle elevation bathed in the soft light of what appears to be a pleasant late spring or early summer day. The artist's skilful use of colour and composition evokes a deep sense of solitude and tranquility.
The artwork is in good overall condition and has been newly framed with a French-style linen slip. On the reverse side of the painting (see photos) is a citation which states: "Homage and thanks to Mrs. Blanc, Director of the Pont-de-Bois School, Toulon." It is signed by (first letter indecipherable) D. Garnier, 1926. Unfortunately, any references to that school and those people cannot be found. Please enjoy the many photos with this listing. Upon request, a video will be provided.
