'Abstract Composition' by Pierre-Yves Beltran (1984)
SKU 2717
'Abstract Composition', oil on board, by Pierre-Yves Beltran (1984). A dense, richly textured abstract composition rendered in a palette of deep blues, emerald greens, and earthy browns, structured by bold black contour lines that fragment the canvas into overlapping planes — suggesting, by turns, a still life, an interior, or an architectural landscape viewed through a cubist-inflected lens. The brushwork is generous and impasto, with a rich painterly surface that gives real depth and texture to each plane of colour. The tight, dynamic composition reveals a sensibility close to late 20th-century European abstract expressionism. The work is presented in a new frame and a natural linen liner, which sets off the painting's rich chromatic depth beautifully. The work is in good overall condition. There is a hint of a signature in the lower left hand partially obscured by the linen slip. But it is illegible. However, the artist's name is apparent on the reverse side (now covered by new frame) with a dedication which reads: "For Jean-Paul – Best Wishes '84 – Pierre-Yves Beltran" — a handwritten inscription by the artist himself, presenting the work to a friend at New Year 1984. This personal dedication offers a direct, documented line of provenance straight from the artist's hand. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
