'Sunset in Provençal Wetlands', oil on board (1980), by Wilhelm Goliasch (1922 - 1986). This artwork depicts a magnificent sunset over the salt water lagoon called the Vaccarès in the Camarargue wetlands in southern France. The Vaccarès is the largest lake of the Camargue and is an important protected place for rest and food for migratory birds. The artist has beautifully captured a moment in time where the orange setting sun peeks through the clouds and illuminates the plant life jutting through the waters. In original frame (which shows some characterful blemishes). Painting in good vintage condition. Signed: 'Goliasch'. A short video clip of this work can be provided upon request.

About the Artist: Wilhelm Goliasch (1922 - 1986) Swiss/French painter of still lifes, portraits and landscapes. Influenced by the school of Paris painters such as Claude Venard and Bernard Buffet.
