'French Riviera Window', oil on board, French School (signed 'Leroy 1953'). Painted in postwar Nice, this artwork transports the viewer to a quieter time which preceded the halcyon days of the very glamorous Riviera of the 1960s. Behind the radiant bouquet of flowers is an idyllic view with sailboat bouncing on its mooring in Nice's Bay of Angels. Cascading sunlight lifts the floral arrangement and table upon which it rests and can't help but lift the mood of the viewer as well. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. The painting has been recently cleaned and restored to protect it for decades to come. Although the painter's name and date of the work is annotated on the backside ('Leroy, October 1953, Nice'), the gallery's research has not been able to definitively attribute it to a specific artist. The frame is very French in style and shows characterful markings attesting to its age and history. This painting will make a wonderful addition to any household or workspace. Upon request, a brief video of the piece may be provided.
