Ask a Question

This wonderfully elegant ceramic tray (circa 1950s) has Blin's trademark cloudy blue glaze featuring primeval images of a tree, a seated woman with outstretched arm, a bull and a plant etched in the centre of the piece but seemingly from an undiscovered prehistoric cave. The tray is boat-shaped and very refined, highly collectible and in very good vintage condition commensurate with age. Signed on underside of base: 'J. Blin'. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995), was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze; he frequently used fanciful birds and animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works with decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career.
