'Woman with Hoop Earrings' by Louis Latapie (circa 1930s)
SKU 1656
'Woman with Hoop Earings', oil on canvas, by Louis Latapie (circa 1930s). Filled with colour, this extraordinarily seductive work by French artist, Latapie, is compelling in its warm allure. Latapie is well known for his many portraits of women. The subject in this artwork seems completely at ease with her effortless smile, perhaps suggesting a warm relationship between the two. The artist's technique in this case is fascinating as well. He fashioned the image combining many bold, linear strokes of colour to create the whole. Although later in Latapie's career he embraced cubism and abstraction, this piece seems placed somewhere in between that and his earlier expressionist and more figurative periods. The artwork is in good overall condition with a new frame and French-style linen slip. The canvas has been relined. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video of the artwork will be provided. Signed 'Latapie' in the lower right hand.
