Vintage Italian Ceramic Elephant Sculpture (circa 1970s)
SKU 1802
Vintage Italian ceramic elephant sculpture (circa 1970s). A creative cross between the works of Alessio Tasca, Enzo Mari and Fratelli Mannelli, this zoomorphic sculptural piece sports the mark of an unknown maker. From a certain perspective, it is an abstract or cubist elephant (with riding mount) produced using a spotted oatmeal glaze. Like some of Georges Braque's paintings, the elephant appears in different forms depending on the viewer's line of sight. And like an origami piece, it looks ready to spring unfolded. It's charming, inventive and very original. In overall good condition. Upon request a video may be provided. Please enjoy the photos accompanying this listing.
