'The Walk in Roquebrune', oil on canvas, by Henri Auchere (circa 1980s). Roquebrune-Cap-Martin is a lesser-traveled gem on the French Riviera, celebrated for its picturesque medieval village and unspoiled coastline. Château de Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, a fortified castle dating back to the 10th century, is believed to be the oldest in France overlooks the village. About the Artist: Henri Auchere (1908-2000), French artist, was a student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and later was an authority and restorer for The Louvre museum. An erudite man of letters, Auchere was also an archeologist and Egyptologist. As an artist he is best known for his stunning landscapes and still life paintings.
