'The Parting I' by Elisabeth Hoffova (1967)

'The Parting I', gouache on fine art paper (1967) by Elisabeth Hoffova. A tremendous, mid-century modernist painting with vivid colours, impeccable technique and intriguing subject matter. 'The Parting' depicts three figures seemingly in introspection, none looking directly at the others. The vividly coloured geometric shapes with jagged edges and irregular lines represent the divergence of thought of the three figures. There is a melancholy to the image and at the same time, an anticipation of a better future. This gallery holds another related work by Hoffova in the same style of frame. Together they would be ideal to form a small coherent collection. You are encouraged to inquire about its pair. In good vintage condition with some minor blemishing commensurate with age. Signed in the lower lefthand corner: 'Hoffova'. The frame is glazed and is entirely original and beautiful in its own right in fair condition with characterful markings, cracks, nicks and blemishes.
