'The Guitarist', Berlin School (circa 1940s - 1960s)
SKU 0483
'The Guitarist', oil on board, Berlin School (circa 1940s - 1960s). Despite the apparent flatness of the composition, it suggests depth with pronounced colours and tile-like quadrants of varying sizes behind the guitarist. The fragmentation of the primary figure retains its connection to reality and does not give way completely to geometrical abstraction. The composition is harmonious in its symmetry and prism of colour. A truly formidable work of art that pays homage to the cubist masters yet retains its originality and style. The artwork is in good vintage condition in a new frame with elegant, linen slip. Some fading of colour and blemishing is to be expected with a work of this age as it simply adds vintage character. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided. Unsigned.
