'Still Life with Flowers and Snow' by Yoritsuna Kuroda (1974)
SKU 0283
'Still Life with Flowers and Snow', oil on canvas, by Yoritsuna Kuroda (1974). In winter, life moves from outdoors to indoor space. The leafless tree showing through the window represents the completion of the yearly cycle of the seasons ushering in its cold, brief, dark days. By contrast, the plants and flowers on the desk inside remind the viewer of the warmer weather that arrives in springtime, a celebration of new life and the hope of the coming summer. Similarly, the drafter's tools are a symbol for divine inspiration, new creation and the bridge between heaven and earth. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. Signed: 'Y. Kuroda 1974' in the lower lefthand corner. On the rear of the canvas the artist has written the title of the painting in Japanese characters along with a mention of the 60th anniversary of an organisation dedicated to art. This painting may have been created for that occasion. Newly framed in oak tray. Upon request a video clip of this work may be provided.
