Ask a Question

A set of four tumblers by artist Roger Capron (1922 - 2006) who founded the craft-based workshop in Vallauris, France, l'Atelier Callis, where his creations contributed to a veritable renaissance of pottery and ceramics.  Capron left behind a considerable body of internationally acclaimed works and is collected worldwide.  These four tumblers (c. 1960) were discovered in the S. of France and carry one of his trademark styles which appear as coloured tiles and geometric motifs - each slightly different than the others.  Two of the four tumblers show wear and tear indicative of their age - some cracks and minor discolouration mostly on the inside - yet the feel for all remains thick and sensuously smooth and unexpectedly light; the colours are still vibrant and bold with the Capron workshop stamp appearing on the bottom of each.  A wonderful addition to any collection or simply inspiring conversation pieces, these four tumblers are a must-have for those searching authenticity, quality and craftsmanship with a history.
