'Portrait of Posing Nude' (circa 1950s-70s)
SKU 0916
'Portrait of Posing Nude', oil on board, unsigned, German School (circa 1950s-70s). Simply beautiful and beautifully simple, this portrait of a model was created using confident brush strokes and elegantly effortless lines. The figure's face is mask-like and reminiscent of Picasso's cubist masterpiece, 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon'. The flesh is full and sensuous and sits in contrast to the plain but textured background. Overall, the painting is in fair vintage condition showing minor blemishing in the painting surface. It has been newly framed with a linen slip to complement the work. Please carefully view the accompanying photos to best assess the condition and style of the artwork. Upon request, a short video clip of the painting may be provided.
The work is unsigned therefore the precise background of the artist is unknown. This gallery's source indicates the piece was acquired in Berlin, Germany. Notwithstanding the uncertainty of an unknown artist, several galleries have acquired and are now selling works such as this one emanating from the School of Berlin. It clearly speaks to the widespread assessment of the quality and interest of the art.
