Portrait of a Young Man II by V.R. (Circa 1940s - 1950s)
0487
Portrait of a Young Man II by artist with initials 'V.R.', oil on canvas (circa 1940s - 1950s). Surely inspired by the works of Picasso and Braque, this is a playful portrait of a young man, or perhaps it is a boy, depicted in cubist form from the post WWII era. There is a charm and naïveté in this work unlike others sold by this gallery from the same artist with the initials, V.R.. While many cubist works sport sensual curves and lines, this portrait is more about solid blocks, squares, rectangles and triangles filled in subtle earth tones. It grows and grows on you with every viewing. From the 'School of Berlin' this inviting, beautifully-executed work of art is an inspired choice to fill that small niche in your home or office that has been bare so long, its muted but elegant colours easily complementing your decor. Artwork in good vintage condition in new frame with linen slip insert. Initialed by the artist, 'V.R.' in lower left hand corner. A short video clip of this work can be provided upon request.
