'Old Fishing Boat', oil on canvas, Italian Tuscan School, (1972). Glimmering reflections on the water outline the hull of an old fishing boat in the porto vecchio in Livorno, on the Tuscan coast. The reflections take form as geometric shapes with vibrant colours which mimic the building behind the boat. Bobbing to and fro, it has seen better days but still serves the fisherman faithfully to whom it belongs.

Livorno has had its historical ups and downs. It was ruled by the Etruscans, the Romans, Genoese and Florentines. Today it is the major port on the Tuscan coast and capital of the Province of Livorno and home of a small fishing fleet which continues to this day. The painting is signed but indecipherable (see accompanying photos). In fair vintage condition It has some blemishing around the far edges of the canvas and near the top of the centre mast of the fishing boats. The overall effect however, remains stunning. Newly framed and backed. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided.
