'Not a Fembot' by Unknown Artist (circa 1940s - 60s)
SKU 0461
'Not a Fembot', oil on board, by unknown artist (circa 1940s - 60s). A thoroughly modern interpretation of an independent, resilient, gifted woman who is anything but a robot. The portrait's colour quadrants represent her many dimensions, her intelligence and her creativity. Her symmetry is her beauty and the geometry of lines, angles and curves, her rationality. Hard to resist from an aesthetic point of view as well, the artwork has been newly framed with linen slip and is in fair vintage condition given the characterful blemishes evident on the surface but in keeping with its age. Unsigned. Upon request, a video of the piece will be provided.
Our gallery has access to a cache of paintings from Berlin in the 1940s - 1960s. What we know of these artworks is derived from our source from whom we've obtained this piece along with several others. Regrettably the artwork is unsigned and is therefore impossible to deduce anything about the artist's background or aspirations. What we do know is this work is beautifully compelling and so modern given the era in which it was created.
